Countdown: UPDATE
Sep 14th, 2009 by pedestrian
Quds Day is only 4 days away … I am terrified, and excited.
Still not 100% sure if Rafsanjani will indeed be leading, he can pull out at any time prior to Friday if they step up the pressure and threats.

Just a few hours ago I was going to add: what if Ahmad Khatami becomes prayer leader?
Well, now he has. And Ahmadinejad will give the opening.
———
That was via IRNA. Now Tabnak reports that the head of the sermons has denied the IRNA article, and has said that the leader will be announced “in a few hours.”

i would say i’m mostly terrified.. slightly emboldened by montazeri’s statement, but terrified nonetheless
my next thought was that the prisons are probably filled to capacity at the moment but i guess that would just mean opening another one :-s :-s
yup, they’ll have no problem thinking up some extra space :-/
But I’m a bit excited too, hoping that since it’s an official demonstration, they won’t be too hard on the protesters (I know I could be VERY, VERY wrong)
i hope that everyone goes with family; friends are not enough to protect you. if things get violent (i’m really, *very* nervous about this; it seems to be a good possibility), at least a broad cross-section will witness it
I think it’s so cute (and a bit “safer”, I don’t know how much) that families go together.
Mousavi said once that “our demonstrations have to be so safe that toddlers and pregnant women could join us”
…. just a dream, but if there was no interference, I would imagine it could be an achievable dream. I don’t remember hearing anyone hurt in the rallies before the election.
