Abdullah Nouri for President

You probably hate me for saying it, but I don’t care. Although you are probably sick of clerics, while the IRI is up and running, I would love to have Abdullah Nouri as a president. Aside from Rowhani who is my IRI heartthrob, Abdullah Nouri is my next favorite man in the establishment. I’ve always had a thing for rebels. This man is FIERCE and he has always been. It’s not something that started just four months ago.
Really, how could you not love a guy who does a Lord of the Rings?
He’s the only minister to serve time in prison (at the time of his imprisonment, not now when just about everybody is in prison). One of his brothers was killed during the war and the other, an MP was killed when he was in prison. Lots of rumors remain about that death.
AdvarNews has published an interview with Nouri.
“Each of these prisoners is connected to a bigger network. And their family, their friends, the country, we all feel close to them. The establishment has kept them in prison, to keep this protest against the establishment alive? What kind of strategy is that? I am guessing that certain analysis are offered to the lord of the establishment, which predicts that if the prisoners are freed, the establishment’s problems will grow. This is while such an analysis is done out of hopelessness and must not be the basis for decision making. These actions may even be an act of revenge. And those who are making these decisions should be careful. An act of revenge is not beneficial to the country nor even the long term interests of the establishment.”
“They consider the parts of the constitution which stresses the rights of the people to be worthless trash and other parts as a holy book. When people act on their legal rights, they consider it an act against national security and a step towards overthrowing the system. So whose not acting according to the constitution? the protesters or the establishment? I think some of these gentlemen really think: why don’t you think like us? And if you thought like us, we’d let you protest without a permit. After thirty years, I’m not sure if these gentlemen think that they should create a Hezbeh Rastakhiz [In March 1975 the Shah issued a decree instructing the formation of an 'all-embracing' single party, the National Resurgence Party] only this time, all the members will be armed.”

It’s the character which forms the face – and both are engaging.
he reminds me of Charles Chaplin, just the look I mean.

sorry i know this is beside the point! couldn’t resist not mentioning that!
roozbeh, you’re right! He does look like a less-handsome version of Chaplin.
German, everybody gets mad at me when I say this, but I really like Nouri. I have for years.
I understand you so much:
having read the quotes [fantastic, incredible, just grand - to say the least], posted by you, and seeing his photograph at the same time, the spontaneous thought I hit upon was:
“Not a bad idea, if he were (somehow) a colleague, a superior or a friend of mine!” – He is really dwarfing mediocrity.
A country with such people can’t go amiss! – I actually miss this kind of people in Germany – VERY MUCH.
It’s not always nice to feel surrounded by primates – for the rest of my life!
