He’s Not Stopping

Saffar Harandi was at YET another university this weekend – he’s doing his rounds, countrywide.
He was at the University of Geelan (northern Iran) yesterday. Here is a video of his visit.
The students were shouting:
Ghatel boro ghom sho [get lost you murderer]
Dictator-e bichareh, nehzat edameh dareh [you poor dictator, this movement will continue]
Nangh-e ma, nangh-e ma, vazireh farhanghe ma [our culture minister is our disgrace]
In response, Saffar Harandi called the students “violent” and said: “can the voice of 13 million silence 24 million people?”
As usual, students were protesting the full filming of the session with professional video cameras.
[the fact that there are huge cameras in each of these sessions - cameras that you just can't find lying around in most schools, and that the likes of Harandi are doing a countrywide campaign makes me think that this may be part of a larger project. Sorry if I am stating the obvious here, it hadn't hit me as hard until yesterday.]
And as was expected he said: “why is it that you claim hundreds of thousands hit the streets after the election, but less than 3 thousand were in the streets of Tehran for 13 Aban?”
[told ya - they disperse, beat and imprison the protesters and then claim there were none.]
It should be noted that only 3 thousand students were reported around the University of Tehran on 13 Aban. More on the numbers later.
At the same time, students at Khajeh Nasir University continued with their second day of hunger strikes. Here is a video.
They are demanding the release of Ali Parviz and Soheil Mohammadi, two student who came to the attention of the university’s security staff after Saffar Harandi’s visit and were arrested while at home, the night before 13 Aban.

Dear Pedestrian,
[as a naive and thus somehow stupid reader of your blog (naive and stupid: because a non-Iranian ignorant like me cannot possibly come to correct conclusions)] I [all the same] dare the guess of the obvious:
that over the short term the basis of the basiji-students will rapidly dwindle extremely, being destroyed by what you daily report on academic life (like in this case).
How can a political party, e.g. of Ahmadinejad, replenish its ranks with competent members needed by any party that wants to function properly ?
That’s just a rhetorical guess-like question of a foreigner ignorant on matters Iranian.
